RED DSMC 2 - Monstro

Large Format - Vista Vision sensor, larger width than full frame. The main selling point of this camera is ability to increase field of view with longer lenses. Alleviating the effects of wider lenses and giving you the ability to use more aesthetically pleasing lenses. When either forced into the action by the location or when you want to get physically closer to the action. Wider lenses conventionally have a deeper depth of field so this also allows you to have a shallowed depth of field at a wider field of view. A great example of this would be in a car scene. The increase in resolution is obviously enormous as well. 8K practicality and versatility means a well of options when shooting.

Available with either conventional PL Mount. Or Kippertie Revolva PL or EF for build in ND Filter.

RED DSMC 2 - Gemini

The low light capability of this camera sparks up interesting debate, mostly from a lack of understanding of the importance. What does sensitivity in a sensor really mean?

I'll just start with one practical example and it should allow me to debunk some bullshit here. Every camera has a native happy place for optimum exposure, it might be just as good or negligibly different a stop either side of that. There's most certainly a happy place though. Natively that is around 800 on this camera. So if you expose a scene with lighting set up, let's say it's perfectly exposed, you metered it. Now you want to go to 100 frames per second or increase the shutter, or you just want to physically change the T or F stop on your lens. Well the dual sensitivity means you don't have to change any of the lighting. You gain two stops, this means if you plan it, you can work way faster.

Of course the increase in sensitivity also means you now need less light, which is a bonus as less light, is less power is less money. Easier on logistics, etc.

Another benefit of this sensor over the Monstro is at 5k it's a far easier load to manage on post production and if you want to go to high frames you are cropping in on less of the sensor than on the Monstro.

Available with either conventional PL Mount. Or Kippertie Revolva PL or EF for build in ND Filter.
